Cars n Trains
It was 1957.
My sister and I were riding with our father heading home to Fairmont, WV. On the way out of Clarksburg, WV we were about to pass S&S Chevrolet when my sister and I yelled at the same time. Dad! Look at that car in the window. With the dealership being on the oppisite side of the street, my dad looked, seen what we had seen, check for on coming traffic then pulled accross the street and into the service bay door, stopping right next to the showroom. While lost to my father through the effects of Alzheimer, what happened next is etched in my mind. A salesman walked out of the showroom and up to the drivers side of my dad's car and asked, can I help you? To which my father stated, "You can take the plate off this car and put it on the car in the window cause we're taking it home!"
And so it was. That afternoon, my dad, sister and I cruised home in our brand new Red on red 1957 Chevrolet Belair Convertible.
There were lots of great times in that 57 Chevy but like a lot of cars my father owned, some good, some bad, they all seemed to pass in time.
But, my father's passion for cars and trains made me what I am today.
Truly Car & Train Crazy!
